I'll take Aerosmith and Get Your Wings any day over anything else they made.

I would gladly take Aerosmith as one of the greatest American rock bands and I would venture to say Rage Against the Machine just because of their popularity and the genre they created.

    What genre did Rage create?

I can't think of it, either, Bubbler. It's not rap-rock. Because, and there might be others before them, 311 started doing that in 1989.

No clue. If he's talking about rap-rock, Faith No More was the first band to have their lead singer rap on almost every song. And Blondie recorded the first rap-rock song.

    Angry pro-Zapatista rap-rock?

I don't know what to call it, but a different brand of rock/rap/screamo fusion. Bands created off of that sound and pushed the envelope forward. Soundgarden, Audioslave (had several members of RATM in it) and Linkin Park come to mind.

Edit: Other bands might have done it before them, but RATM put it on the map.

    311 was there before them.
