I watched these wonderful spots and immediately thought of one man: Paul, the King of Big Screens. Cut to fat balding guy with silly crown, shrugging: "I am the King"

Looked all over for a commercial (all over UToob, that is) and couldn't find one. You know who I'm talking about Xany?

Bad video quality, but George Clooney's dad is in this one.

Channel 8 in Cleveland has the touch!

    Reach for the Stars!

Channel 2 in Orlando: Proud as a Peacock

    More cheese from Orlando

The Stylistics must have really needed the money

Argh, I can't find on YouTube the WISH-TV/Indianapolis promo about Stan Wood and his weather van, which he needed because "Stan goes outside -- where the weather is." Apparently Stan was such a stupid-ass, he couldn't read a radar screen, and had to go outside to figure out what was going on. (licks finger) "Feels like the wind is coming from the southeast."

But you made me nostalgic for my Other Hometown. So does this:

The second Orlando clip is awesome. And I freaking hate the Stylistics ... glad they sold out.

Oh shit. It just dawned on me that Z-Man and I are some sort of paralell universe JDV and Rokski. Equally sad Youtube linkers, but devoid of ego and agenda.

Here's some I remember from our families' brief sojourn to Dallas in the early 80s.

WFAA-8, featuring Verne Lundquist ... stick it out for the last few seconds for some unintended humor ...

    Channel 4 ...

  6. Mayor Zeidler thanks you for your support, bubs.

That campaign was used all around the country, apparently. Some of the city or state combos don't really work out, especially Rhode Island and Louisville(pronounced correctly as Lou-a-vull in the ad).

    Socialists of the world, unite!

I love the fact that my hometown was a socialist stronghold into the 1960s.
