Do you think there'll ever be a cultural backlash against gratuitous communications technology usage? I know there are pockets of quasi-Luddite anti-tech sentiment, but I mean a real cultural shift. Well?

The GF really enjoys texting. So much it was hurting my wallet. Like you, I was bouncing up and down on plans.
A few months ago, I introduced her to gmail. Now, we just e-mail each other back and forth. It's a hell of a lot easier, and free.
That said, she hates a disturbing trend - ex-gf text. I have one that seems to think it is fine to try to text me, after months of no-contact, at 1 a.m. on a Friday.

I recently canceled my text-messaging service. Next up is phone service altogether.

Please don't descend into an alienated, solitary, Dostoevskian existence, pallister. You seem like a good guy and need not end up on a park bench like Aqualung.
