    Description:
    The Society of Professional Journalists is seeking an energetic and innovative graphic designer to serve as the Society’s one-person, in-house design shop. The Graphic Designer will develop and design all publications, graphics and logos used by the Society and its supporting foundation.

    Responsibilities include: • Designing SPJ’s print and online publications, which include, but are not limited to Quill magazine (published nine times a year) and SPJ Leads (a weekly E-mail newsletter). • Generating logos, graphics, ads, fliers and brochures related to SPJ’s programs and its Web site. • Adhere to production schedules and deadlines. • Some travel required.

    Minimum Qualifications: • MUST be proficient with Macintosh computers in an OSX environment and relevant design related programs, including PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, QuarkXPress, Acrobat, Flash, ImageReady, Word, PowerPoint and Excel. • MUST have a minimum of two years design experience. A background in magazine design preferred. • B.A. or equivalent in Graphic Design is preferred. • Strong communication skills, a pleasing personality and professional demeanor. • Strong organizational skills and an ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines is essential. • Internet design and banner ad creation a bonus.
