The Grants Pass Daily Courier seeks a sports writer interested in working and living in the scenic Rogue Valley of Oregon.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic reporter who can turn a phrase and refuses to churn out dull copy. Our approach emphasizes human beings first and statistics second.
The successful candidate will write at least one feature a week, staff games, work the desk and write an occasional enterprise piece. Photography skills are a must. Page design and video skills are a bonus.
We have seven high schools in our coverage area.
Hours frequently include evenings and weekends. Our company pays 100 percent of employees’ health insurance premiums.
The Daily Courier has no debt, it is profitable, and it has been owned by the same local family for more than 120 years.
The New York Times’ Travel section named the Rogue River, which is the lifeblood of our circulation area and fuels the local tourism industry during the summer months, as one of its 52 Places to Visit in 2018.
We outsource nothing to other states or countries. No far-away design centers, no editing hubs, no remote printing sites, no overseas customer service hive. It's all done in-house.
Send resume, cover letter and five writing samples to Sports Editor Ben Maki at bmaki@thedailycourier.com
If you have design experience, please send three samples of your work.
