    You should ask Roger Clemens

Maybe he works at a lip-readers' newspaper, then?

Simon: You seem to want to pick a fight here with somebody who isn't looking for one. S sound or z sound, moses's, if you put an extra s on it, makes three. That's pretty well documented here and elsewhere. That's all I meant to say.
I don't know why that "intrigues" you, but you can bite my ass, right on the steroid abcess.

    Another Hendrix grammer question:

Is it "I was getting layed" or "I was getting laid"

You mean, in "All Along the Watchtower?"

"So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late."

Although, I like your idea, too. Unless you were talking about another song ...

That's the one BP - good pick up. It's one of the most mispronounced songs in all of rock and roll .

It ends in S. No 's on it. Doesn't matter what you think about sounds.

Diabeetus: YES. I agree. You WOULDN'T put another s on it, because it would create ... never mind. I'm going to try posting in English next time. On something way less esoteric.
But I can't stop myself from pointing out that the fact it has an s on the end of it is meaningless, by itself. Your kid would say, "Hey, mom, I'm going to Chris's house." Not Chris' house. Or "The Star Wars movies are George Lucas's crowning achievement." Not Lucas'.

So, just to wrap this up, since a couple folks have decided to get so darn snippy ... Diabeetus, it DOES matter what I think about sounds, since your idea that everything with an s on it doesn't take an apostrophe s is, like, wrong. (see above post. Extensive quoting is for sissies. And people less lazy than I am.)

Everything with "an s on [the end of] it" doesn't take an "apostrophe s"

    That's right.

And Moses is one z sound, and one s sound.

    Now, go home.
