What affect will this have on local sports teams, as they play in public stadiums?

They will all have to go to Kalamazoo to drink the holy water.

Depends on who issued the debt. In Denver, for example, a regional authority handles stadium financing. Central cities are today such a small part of a meto areas population usually the financing is handled by the county but I don't know about Detroit.

Funny, the governor said exactly the opposite of what the clown who started this thread claims.

The GOPbags are playing good cop/bad cop with their ALEC agenda.

In order to preserve his friendly-nerd image, Snyder has been soft-pedaling the more radical stuff like RTW and taking-over-the-negro-cities and letting the Shiites in the central and western regions of the state lege do the heavy lifting and catch the public heat for that stuff.

The GOP has a stranglehold on both houses plus the state Supreme Court, so they'll be able to ram through whatever they want.

Take it easy on him ... this may be the first thread he's started without the j-word or the y-word.

TheSportsPredictor is right - Gov. Rick Snyder did not say this, nor has he ever said it in public. He has done many things to try and help the city, however difficult that is because the city is so f'ed up. Please change the thread title.

  8. Do you really think a stadium would close? It would just be auctioned off.

How long until OCP takes over?

I think the thread title was a clumsy allusion to the Daily News headline in the late 70s "Ford to City: Drop Dead" when NYC was bankrupt and needed to be bailed out. President Ford never said drop dead and actually reversed himself and gave the city the bailout several weeks later. The federal government made billions on the deal.

It's not that clumsy at all. And if you dissolve the city government and incorporation, that is the municipal death penalty.

Which reaises the question: "Can you kill something that is already dead?"
