The story's lede says officials, but yet the main part of the story only indicates one official. So which is it?

Or, they just get an opportunity to kill an infidel. It's a win-win for them.

Baron, it would be bad business to kill him. They'd never get another successful ransom.

    No. It's not.

They follow through on these ransom offers. It's documented time and again. This is why they don't kidnap Americans very often, because the United States does not pay ransoms. European countries do. And al Qaeda and ISIS relase the prisoner. Otherwise, no one would pay the ransoms any more, and they would go out of business.

There are also not that many Americans in their territory anyway.

    Doesn't change what happened.

They need to set up as a 501 C so the ransom is tax deductible.

Me too. But I obviously sympathize with the family. It's an agonizing position to be in. You want to help, yet are left feeling helpless.

I'm not sure why Justin saw the post as an opportunity to "bludgeon Obama".

But I didn't "bludgeon" him. I agree with the policy wholeheartedly.

It's just really sad for the family.

Is there something wrong about expressing this?

Who are the Foleys' elected representatives in Congress, Senate and House? Were I being threatened by the government for a perfectly legal action that is none of its goddamn business, I sure as hell would let my reps know.
