The problem is, you and many other lump "ruling" elite with intelligent people who try to rise above their roots. I and others have been accused of being elitists simply because we chose to make our political and social decisions on factors beyond an American Idol-esque likability of candidates or ideas. Because we chose to use intelligent, legitimate factors and support intelligent candidates, we're branded elitists.

There is a big difference between those of us you've branded as elitists and the real elites, those who actually rule but aren't elected.

And Jeebus, when did being intelligent become such a bad thing in this country?

I'm not going to blame Rove for starting this trend...just for furthering it. Sadly, this mindset has been in place for a LONG time.

 

I don't think I ever said there was anything wrong with intelligence in candidates or people trying to rise above their roots. But once you're there, don't forget your roots. People are people.
