    Anyone seen this?

    http://www.blackle.com/

Apparently, it takes less energy to produce a black screen than white. So google is now saving energy.

    Sorry if it's a D_B.

    No.

Blackle is a for-profit website powered by Google Custom Search and run by Heap Media Australia, which aims to save energy by displaying a black background color for search result , Similar to that of the non profit equivalent Trophic.org.uk which offers the same service with the added incentive of being solar powered, Blackle is currently launching its own search engine, ditching the Google Custom Searchpages.[1][2]

From our techies: the energy differential is so marginal, they probably used more energy developing it than everyone would by switching from Google to Blackle.
