I had a great meal at Aguaviva, too, when I was in PR 3 years ago. I also had a great dinner at a restaurant across the street -- the names escapes me at the moment.

I stand corrected. I should have said tropical rain forest. I don't know much about nature. I did love it in El Yunque. I went back three different times.

I was gonna post that, but I wasn't sure.

It bridges over into Washington State, correct?

Is there not tropical rain forest in Hawaii too?

If we're counting PR as North America, gotta count HI too.

Don't worry too much about speaking Spanish as long as you stay in San Juan or visit Old San Juan. We went a few years ago and stayed at the Marriott and it was like being in New York. In fact, the bellman was from Brooklyn, the front desk person was from the Bronx... etc.

I really enjoyed just sitting in the lobby around 8 p.m. There were people in the lounge slasa dancing and the casino was just a few steps away. A lot of energy there.

I don't have a lot on San Juan, but I can tell you a place near Roosevelt Roads that wasn't all that pissed off when I returned the car I rented in, oh, less-than-pristine condition. A buddy was driving it back from San Juan, fell asleep and we hit both guard rails on a bridge. I remember getting out of the car and trying to pull the quarterpanel off the tire -- with my bare hands. Needless to say, I was hammered.

That whole port call is my longest, bestest sea story ever. If I ever make an SportsJournalists.com outing/gathering, I'll regale any who have 20 minutes to spare.

Does it involve a fine girl named Brandy, who works laying whiskey down?
