    E! is having a post-awards show right now. Jim and Pam from The Office were on. Jim took the mic and decided to be the fashion correspondent. It was pretty funny.

    This is the Golden Globes. You do not have a prayer of true excellence being rewarded. It's just a bunch of people that want to hang around with movie and TV stars for a night. None of them on The Wire. It's why Jackie Earle Haley wasn't nominated for Little Children. Who wants a guy in the room who hasn't made a big movie in 25 years and whose comeback vehicle is as a creepy child molester? But you won't see a better performance this year, from a supporting actor or a lead.

    Keep in mind who votes on this . . . the Foreign Press Assn. of L.A. A show like Ugly Betty, cribbed from a telenovela, might be more popular with them, many of whom are probably from Latin America.

    My thoughts on the G.Globes:
    * A pathetic gathering of white folks who think they run Hollywood (buffered by the presence of a few black souls)
    * Kept being white wins award, white wins award, several whites onstage to take award, etc.
    * Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy too much talking in acceptance speeches by award winners.
    * Rip-off of the night was "The Office" not winning, being bested by "Dumb Girls" or whatever that show is called.
    * Things finally got to a be a little legit when Forrest Whitaker won for Idi Amin/Scotland movie.
    * Tribute by Hanks to Warren Beatty was miserable, undeserving and basically boring. A huge reach to give this guy and award. They even had to use a clip from "Ishtar" to make the thing long enough.
    * Resulting speech by Beatty was self-serving and continuously off-topic.
    * Ang. Jolie has nothing to say when miked-up. Brad does all the talking. Must be a whale of a relationship.
    * Final Grade: F
