I wouldn't go there before or after a Ga Tech football game though.

I'm going to check out Vortex the next time I am down.

I'll fifth the recommendation for the Vortex. Pack an extra stomach, though.

    Buckhead Diner. Thank me later...

Get the banana cream pie for dessert.

Sounds like the Vortex and Buckhead Diner are on my list ... just wish the weather would be warmer

What is the name of the pirate-themed jazz club that specializes in fondue? No I am not making that up. There is a pirate-themed jazz club that has fondue.

Dante's. It's in Buckhead. We drove by it the last time we were in Atlanta.

    I heard it shut down.

I have not been to Atlanta, other than the airport.
However, if/when I go to Atlanta, I'm going to the Varsity.
Doesn't matter if the quality doesn't match the fame. Seems like one of those things one has to do.

Example, first time you go to Philly you should go to Pat's.
Plenty of locals prefer other places, but you should still go to Pat's the first time you visit.

Last time I was in Buckhead, there was a dude sitting on the pavement behind a car with his shirt off, examining the car's tailpipe closely. There was a half-drunk bottle of Listerine behind him. I think that's the definition of rock bottom.

For me, that's just day 2 of a three-day weekend.

Vortex is very good. I love good diner food and The Buckhead Diner is my favorite diner I've ever been to. Tuna Melt, Patty Melt, Grilled Cheese, just great sandwiches...

I was in Atlanta with my in-laws several years ago and my mother-in-law is one of the pickiest eaters I know. When we left, she said, "If we had one of those where we live, I would go there a couple times a week..."
