Goin' Bowling: The BCS etc.

    I don't think bowls are allowed to take teams with less than six wins unless they are a conference champion (such as 5-6 North Texas a few years ago). But if they could take 3-9 Notre Dame over, say, a MAC or Sun Belt team with a better record, you can damn-well bet some bowl would do it ...

    Pardon me if this has been asked already, but when will bowl pairings be announced?
    Will it be Sunday after the BCS rankings are released?

    That is correct. ESPN has a bowl show scheduled (8 p.m. Eastern) after Fox's BCS show. But some of the non-BCS pairings may start to "unofficially" trickle out on Saturday night (the Outback Bowl, for one, is famous for this).
