"God Bless America" (GOP version)

An anti-American version of "God Bless America" performed at the opening of the Value Voters debate and nothing above a whisper to be heard about it in the "drive-thru" media. The lyrics are below. The YouTube performance is at the link. Ya just can't make this stuff up!

Do the GOP front-runners condemn the anti-American version of "God Bless America" or do they stand behind it? What about Huckaby?

In summation, WHY DO THEY HATE AMERICA?

Lyrics (In the tune of "God Bless America"):
    Why should God bless America?
    She’s forgotten he exists
    And has turned her back
On everything that made her what she is

Why should God stand beside her
Through the night with the light from his hand?
    God have mercy on America
Forgive her sin and heal our land

The courts ruled prayer out of our schools
    In June of ‘62
Told the children “you are your own God now
So you can make the rules”
O say can you see what that choice
Has cost us to this day
America, one nation under God, has gone astray

    Why should God bless America?
    Shes’s forgotten he exists
And has turned her back on everything
That made her what she is

Why should God stand beside her
Through the night with the light from his hand?
    God have mercy on America
Forgive her sins and heal our land

In ‘73 the Courts said we
    Could take the unborn lives
The choice is yours don’t worry now
    It’s not a wrong, it’s your right

But just because they made it law
    Does not change God’s command
The most that we can hope for is
    God’s mercy on our land

    Why should God bless America?
    She’s forgotten he exists
And has turned her back on everything
That made her what she is

Why should God stand beside her
Through the night with the light from his hand?
    God have mercy on America
Forgive her sins and heal our land

(Reading from 2nd Chronicles 7:14) If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land

God have mercy on America forgive her sins and heal our land

Sounds like a Promise Keepers event to me. I should know ... been there, done that, ain't there no more.

I shall not ... wait ... "Thou shalt not (meaning me) get into religious discourse on my favorite bulletin board on the Internet."

    Thus endeth the homily/message/sermon ...

I will never understand, with all credit to Aaron Sorkin for the line, how some people can claim to love America when they so clearly hate Americans.

I'm so sick and damn tired of the argument that God was taken out of schools. No, he wasn't. Anyone who wants to pray is still allowed to do it in a classroom. It's just that the school can't sanction it.

Every school I've ever been to had a moment of silence before school started each day. So they're even giving you a time to pray. I don't understand why people don't like that.

    And I'm a card-carrying Christian.

Because it isn't about praying, CJ, and it never has been.

It's about hating people who don't pray.

Or people who don't pray to the same dude you do.

Or people who pray to the same guy you do but not in the same way.

It's a tired, tired routine, but it's always come through in the past. That train's never late.

    Zeke, I know. Just ranting.

I'm a Christian, and I'm not ashamed to admit that. But I'm not devout and I'm certainly not the arrogant prick that I find many Christians to be. Our pastor always said Christians are the reason there aren't as many Christians. And it's true.

We hate on the barbaric tribal nature of Islam in the Middle East, yet most Christians here would run the country the exact same way if it was left up to them.

This is not a theocracy and it never will be. And I thank God everyday for that.

I don't see anything in those lyrics about hating anyone. And Fen, Dems do similar stuff every time they tell us we are ruining the earth, etc. All a matter of opinion.

But I can understand why people of your ilk object to it.
