There are a lot of loyal Dodge owners out there. You keep the Dodge marque for Ram, Dakota, Grand Caravan, Challenger and Viper.

You keep Mopar for all the 1970s musclecar gearheads who'll pay extra for a carburetor just because it's got Mopar on it.

The K-car Vega. The best of both worlds.

The thing that kills me is GM asking for bailout money in order to make the merger happen - AND THEN STILL CUT JOBS!

"I'd give 'em away but my wife won't let me!""

Or whatever that Ford dealership on West Broad Street used to say.

Poor Gil, hopefully he can land on his feet as the janitor at the Quik-E-Mart.

I could see them possibly keeping the minivans, but that's about it. Everything else pretty much duplicates things GM already has. And I'd see Cerebus/Chrysler unloading the Viper to another buyer as much more likely than GM keeping it.

You're right, though, that Mopar could stick around to cater to people who own old muscle cars, etc.

Of course, it looks like this thing isn't going down, so it's all moot anyway.
