Gladwell: Age Bias in Hockey

    Why wouldn't it be your concern since your contention has been that Barnwell/ Gladwell theory does hold up, when in fact the current NHL numbers support their theory?

    It doesn't hold up when applied to the top couple of percent. I'll have to look at the top 10 percent to see if it more broadly applies. My suspicion: His suggestion that a January or February born player is five times as likely to be a major-junior player or whatever than a November born won't hold up even if spread across the top 10 percent. The drafts certainly point that way. You take your best Jan-April and put them in against the best Sept-Dec and see how it shakes out.
