Which Scientists are saying gender is a spectrum? The consensus among doctors treating trans issues is not there. Dismissing legitimate concerns as wantonly as you dismiss biology may get you SJW points but it has no basis in the real world.

No fucking shit. It is the best Man and best Woman in competition. If you are going to disregard basic biology to have a category of competition why don't we just have a greyhound self identify as a human and enter the 100M dash?

    We've been over it before.

Boys playing on girls field hockey teams

They should be allowed to play if there isn't an equal sport. Same with girls who wrestle or play football. If there's enough interest to eventually have separate boys and girls programs, then that's great. Until then, co-ed is fine by me.

Again, either they matter or they don't. That it is a small number is irrelevant. Fairness still matters.

They are winning because they have an unfair advantage. Boys and girls sports are broken up that way because biological males have a physical advantage over biological females. So yes, people pay more attention when the person with an unfair advantage wins. You really are finding some idiotic reasons to support your side. The truth is, you just don't like the group helping the girls with the lawsuit, so you're willing to twist yourself into any kind of rhetorical knot to justify opposing them.

Derive meaning from what I tell you to derive meaning from.

The primary rhetorical “knot”, as you call it, is equality. This has been the issue, not just in sports, but in multiple other aspects of life. The idea, which has been pushed throughout time, is that we all should be treated equally regardless of sex and gender.

A girl competes in a boys sport and does well, and it’s “You go Girl!” A boy or a transgender does well in a girls sport, and it’s a lawsuit. There’s a contradiction there. If we want to claim biology should allow us to discriminate, then, as someone else here pointed out, that can lead to other aspects of discrimination.

If the group that has historically been discriminated against wants equality, then they have to be willing to accept it both ways. Otherwise, the same argument is being made by them that was historically made against them.

We’ve already disregarded basic biology. Girls compete in boys sports.

Just have sports. No distinction. Best humans get to play. If a person with a vagina can rush the QB and cover a TE they can be OLB. If. A person with a penis can serve and volley they can play tennis. No sex or gender distinctions. That should accommodate the trans community adequately with out discriminating anyone. If 95% of persons with a vagina are now left out of sports they must not want it bad enough since there is complete biological equity

No “we” haven’t, you have. I think women’s sport is worth keeping for women. You think because of a few outliers of women playing with men that women’s sport doesn’t matter.
