Girl Problems II: Help the College Boy

I haven't posted in awhile, but as a general update I'm now in college. I'm sure some of the long-timers here may (or probably not) remember helping me out two years ago with my prom date situation two years ago. Well, I'm in a bit of a pickle again and have nobody but the anonymous masses at SJ to help me out.

I feel like the scum of the earth right now. I have a girlfriend that I've been dating for over a year now and I love her. I really feel like we have a future together. Regardless, she means a lot to me.

I just was home over Thanksgiving break. This girl that I hung out with a little in high school (she was on the HS paper with me) ran into me at the bookstore in town, and we went and talked in my car. Well, though I knew it was wrong the entire time, but the encounter ended up with us making out .

I don't like this girl in a romantic way at all. I knew it was wrong and now cannot believe I did something like that to betray my current girlfriend. I am in a state of deep regret.

My main question: how do I handle this? Do I confess my sins and beg for forgiveness? Ignore it and hope the guilt of my transgression dissipates?

I haven't told anyone so far. I feel so shitty I wouldn't be able to talk to anybody face to face about it.

Any guidance would be appreciated. Please be sensitive.

 

You just so happened to end up making out? Why did she come to your car? Did you invite her to your car? Why didn't you two just keep talking in the store or outside?

You are a college student. You are not engaged. You have nothing to get over.

You are feeling guilty. I don't think you should tell your girlfriend. What good would that do?

But you may want to consider what your real feelings are. And if you two don't see each other much, maybe you were just reacting to that.

 

As somebody who cheated (seriously cheated, not just making out) on a college girlfriend with a girl back home during a holiday break, here's my advice...
1. Keep your mouth shut
2. Remember that most people don't spend the rest of their lives with their college sweetheart

You're fine. You're more than fine. As you get older, you'll realize that these sorts of things are pretty innocent. It's only when a penis finds itself in a strange neighborhood after dark that things get really complicated.

If you don't say anything, and if you're sure SHE doesn't say anything, then all should be quiet on the western front.

 

I know. I guess the reason I feel so bad about it is because I know she would be pretty hurt by it.
