  2. Good on you, George.
Still one of the most fundamentally decent men who ever lived.

Feel free to have George lead the Dems over the cliff, just like in '72.

  5. To be completely accurate, McGovern did try to make Watergate an issue during the 1972 campaign, but nobody was listening because nobody was really covering the story yet. (Even HST barely mentions it in Fear And Loathing.) OTOH, Tim Crouse has a whole chapter on Watergate's place in the '72 dynamic in his still-essential "Boys On The Bus."

One hundred percent correct on that.

  7. As far as "leading the Dems over the cliff," actual history tells us that the Congressional split stayed pretty much the same in 1972 and that, two years later, after the results of the 1972 election were fully known, the Republicans took one of the worst off-year beatings in American history.

    Ya know . . . revulsion.

    Sometimes, there's God . . . so quickly!

'08 Senata reshuffle's going to be pretty damn funny.

Talk about a petition that would get signatures.

  11. Well, among journalists, maybe. Fortunately they aren't a majority of the population.
