It's been on HBO enough times that I would imagine most of the diehards with HBO have seen it by now. Found it a lot funnier than his previous special that was released around 2005. Seems like he went back to being bitter and crusty whereas is was trying to be almost philosophical in his previous show. Any show that begins, "fuck Lance Armstrong" is gonna grab your attention. This time though, George actually kept it.

"Carlin at Carnegie" is the end-all, be-all Carlin performance. And one of the greatest standup sessions ever captured on tape.

(and BYM, I didn't mean to crap on your thread. I'm sure this one is great, as Carlin is almost always great, but I'd have to see a clip to say for sure whether I've seen it.)

I saw him live. It was a fantastic performance.

Does he look OK in this one? When I saw his 2005 special, it looked like he was knocking on death's door.

He's been pounding on that fucker for decades. His knuckles have calluses. Maybe Chef could help him.

Didn't he go to rehab in the last year or two?

When was this new one filmed?

I saw him last fall. He was great for the first hour. Problem was, the show was about 75-80 minutes long. Much of the final 20 minutes was spent doing anti-Bush jokes, which to me are the easiest, cheapest cheer in showbiz. Any one of us could stand on a stage these days and say "George Bush sucks!!" and get the crowd to say "YAY!!!!!!!!" Just seems like a cheap, dated routine that is below a performer of his stature.

He was damn funny for most of the show, though. And you bet I love his classic stuff.

Yeah, his grumpy old man political rants are his least interesting stuff.

I bought a two-disc set way back when of his 70s stuff. The Hippy Dippy Weather Man is the one thing people remember from that era, but damn, most of the rest of it is almost painful. Took him a while longer to find his voice.

I've always liked Carlin and I enjoyed the latest show.
Last week, Jerry Doyle was talking about how bad it was, about how he didn't like that bit Carlin did about what people say after somebody dies.
He also said at a show in Oregon (or maybe Las Vegas) people were walking out because they felt Carlin was too insulting to the troops and George W. Bush.
    Fuck Jerry Doyle. Carlin rules.
