If I lose a significant amount of weight in a short period of time, there is only one thing I think of. The Big C.

How long until Troy Vincent is named as his replacement?

    Wow.

I guess he would be next in line.

You don't always show all the symptoms.

I've paged DocTalk to the thread, hopefully he can shed more light on pancreatic cancer and how it might be missed by a doctor.

They said it was diagnosed last Sunday... Holy Christ....

RIP, first and foremost, but this is strange as I read others' comments. Four days removed from being diagnosed and he dies? Perhaps he chose to end his life (or have someone administer it for him) instead of deal with the pain?

Upshaw was a great Raider and I agree with someone earlier talking about him and Art Shell. Hell of a duo.

The owners are shitting bricks right now. Upshaw was in their pocket. Vincent will not be. Players have been pissed about the job Upshaw has done for some time.

Here's hoping Vincent fights for guaranteed contracts.

Or the cancer was so advanced, there was nothing that could be done.

Or, since the stories are now saying he died of "complications from pancreatic cancer," maybe he died on the operating table during a procedure to remove the tumors.

Good odds on Troy Vincent, but Trace Armstrong is almost as, or as, likely.

Because the owners would shut it down before ever agreeing to guarantee contracts in a sport where any play can be your last.

In the NFL universe, signing bonus = guaranteed contract. And the "guarantees" are plenty generous, especially for unproven first-round picks.

Jake Long signed a $57.5 million contract, with MORE THAN HALF guaranteed.

The new player rep needs to find a way to CUT the bonuses given to rookies and INCREASE the bonuses given to proven vets.

I'm just saying, when it comes to unaccounted-for massive weight loss, there is only one thing my brain gravitates to.
