    They should have made it a bridge to symbolize the journey from the close mindedness past to the understanding of the present. And instead of gray - they should have used all the colors of the rainbow. The rainbow being the international symbol for homosexuality.

    I dunno - people might think it was somehow related to Rainbow Bridge - The pet poem. It could turn into an insult instead of a tribute.
