Not even with a ticket. Stargell and McCovey helped define their era. Sheffield is woodwork with decent numbers.

The interesting name on that list, to me, is Palmeiro, who had more than 3,000 hits (Sheffield is at 2582) and 569 HR (Shef has 490). Given his recent decline, it seems unlikley Sheffield will reach either of those numbers. I don't recall him having a positve drug test, but didn't he admit to using roids in connection with Bonds and his workouts? I think if the steroid stigma is enough to keep Palmeiro out -- and it lookes like it will -- then it probably will keep Sheffield out, as well.

He's a lock for SportsJournalists.com's prized "Hall of Pretty Good."

Got a lot more love for Jim Thome than Gary Sheffield.

Which players in the steroid era who have the numbers will be kept out?

    Big Mac
    Sosa
    Roger
    Rafael
McGriff, Sheff, Canseco, Delgado, Bagwell, Dawson, Juan Gone, (not their fault for the most part when you look at the numbers they posted, but their numbers are skewed when they played). If they put those numbers up in the 1950s and 1960s, they would already be in the HOF.

Bonds is in (but not first time through)

Sheffield is not a HOF. Neither is Dwight Gooden.

That is a game-ender right there.

Don't care if he ends up with 600 HRs

I guess you missed 1992, and a number of other years.

Where Did that come from, Claws? Did I miss a mention of Doc or were you just tying along their relationship?

    Gooden is Sheff's uncle.

I thought Strawberry was related to them as well, but I was wrong.
