  5. To me, Kevin Allen's departure feels a little bit like a sucker punch. Being a huge hockey fan I've been reading him for years and he's one of those guys it was an honor being in same press box.

Hate it, hate it, hate it.

Is there any industry that sees less value in experience and knowledge than journalism in the 2010s?

Hope Kevin finds a new gig quickly.

Did anyone watch the Town Hall today? If so, did you also find it weird this guy had a framed picture of CEO Paul Bascobert on his desk?

The industry is falling apart (obviously). Makes it real depressing being a younger journalist. Got in the business 30 years too late.

Definitely. I can start drawing Social Security in 20 months if I have to. Hate that it has come to this.

There's never been a greater need for content and less of a way to earn a living providing it. My heart breaks for the career folks stuck without a safe haven while trying to raise families and pay the bills. I was lucky to be able to switch gears multiple times when the opportunities opened up in other fields. The technology is changing so fast, I doubt any college can truly prepare anyone for what they'll need in five years, let alone 50.
