Gannett experiences

    My Gannett experiences are probably similar to everone else's: Half the staff we had five years ago ... asking to do more than the larger staff did back then ... haven't gotten a raise in three years ... every year, a new "exciting initiative" that bombs and is replaced by a new "exciting initiative." Rince, repeat ... deadlines have moved up to the point that we often don't even get our area's pro team results in the print product ...

    Fortunately, I like the people I work with. And our exec. editor mostly leaves us alone.

    Plus, I have a lot of colleagues, Gannett and not Gannett, that are still looking for work, some for more than a year. In this economy (it's not just journalism), what you gonna do? Especially when you have a family to think about.
