I worked for seven weeks in Brookings, Ore., and on the night before the job ended, a few of us went to a casino just across the California line.

It had a blackjack game that allowed you to place a side bet. If you hit blackjack, they spun an upright roulette wheel, and the number it landed on was the multiplier for your side bet. I generally bet $1 on every hand and $5 when I had doubled my buy-in. I hit it three or four times, so I had a good night at the table. Drank a lot of Bud that night.

The next day, having checked out of my motel room, I took a toxic amk in the job site Honey Bucket, the only time in seven weeks that I copped a squat in there.

That job was great. I made $2 more per hour for working outside of Portland, got $97 per diem and $200 for mileage. Cleared just more than $1,000 a week.

Stunned to hear of something like this in New Orleans, and equally stunned it was a Harrah's. [/sarcasm]

Had a bad run of luck with the online poker of late and will probably curtail my play, mostly because I just can't devote my attention to it with the kids home all the time. I haven't played particularly well and failed to cash in two tournaments because my window to play was closing rapidly and kind of forced me to play differently than I would have like. Down almost $300 now since I first bought in a few weeks ago, although I think it's largely because of poor play on my part, not so much bad luck (I've taken a few bad beats, but nothing out of the ordinary).

I don't feel too bad since that money came out of a dedicated account that houses my fantasy sports and casino winnings, but I hate playing badly.

Colorado casinos now closed until May 1, when sports wagering was supposed to launch. Not that there will be any sports on May 1.

William Hill is offering Nicaraguan soccer.

One gambling note, sort of. Musberger has this amazing ad out for the Manscaper shaving kit.

"Listen to the sound of men shaving their balls before the age of Manscape," in the Brent voice.

Random thought: The world REALLY needs a sex tape of Christina from Flip or Flop. How is this not out there yet?

This post truly has hit all four corners of the world. I don't know where to begin.

Other than you lost me at Burnt Hamburger and shaving kit.

You had lost me at Turkish soccer. Or was it Turkish cricket? But Nicaraguan soccer? (Under or over 2.5?) No over/under on the high in Antarctica?

I had to Google "Christina Flip Or Flop" because I don't watch many of those shoes.
    I wholeheartedly agree with you.

Im a huge fan of Let it Ride.

One night years ago at the Ramada Express in Laughlin (no longer there, and the only casino on the other side of the street on Casino Drive) I hit two four of a kinds in one night. I had the side bets up as well, so I won a decent amount of money. As a side note, I was playing, and got to know former NBAer Mark Randall, who was at my table.

The first time I ever left a table with a purple chip was after playing Let It Ride at Harrah's in Laughlin. But it must be said that LIR is not easy money. Quite the opposite.

Nobody has commented on "High Card Flush" that replaced the LIR table at The Orleans. Anybody played it? figured it out? liked it? won playing it?

I've dabbled a bit in LIR simulators, at times, from my desk during the pandemic.

I cannot see a way to get ahead in that game. Lots of house edge in the payouts (or lack of).
