Figures the one time I get a nice square (Broncos 1, Seahawks 7) the Super Bowl opens with a safety.

Only prop I got right was O/U on 1st half (23.5). Took the under and started to hold my breath late in the 2nd quarter.

Would have thought the under was a damn fine bet with Denver scoring eight. Sigh.

    Bump.

How'd everyone do on the opening college football weekend? Cross-sport UofArizona-Seahawks teaser hit last night, but just barely. God, teasers make you sweat like a mofo.

Anway, does anyone here bet soccer? A friend got me into it recently, but only betting draws. It's been extremely profitable. The value is fantastic; he explained it as the equivalent of having the Mets beat the Dodgers with Kershaw pitching. Except that draws in soccer happen way more often.

For the first time in a long time, it's September and I'm actually up for the year. Thanks to baseball and soccer, mostly.

What do y'all like, this weekend?

It's killing me not to have any action on sports now that I'm listening to VSiN on Sirius every day. Very sharp sports talk because everything comes back to the number. Never been to the South Point in Vegas but I'm going to have to at some point just to fanboi it up around the VSiN studio.

Totally agree. I have Sirius now and that's always on as I drive.

It's pretty fascinating when they talk about numbers, money movement and Musberger or Chrissy come on with their sports book stories. A frickin must listen.

Wonder how much it falls off once football ends. Next Vegas trip, I just may stay at the South Point to hang a little with Musberger.

Went to SP on my last trip (before VSIN) and it was.. ok. Another locals casino. VSIN makes me want to go there.

Good question about after football season. Probably fill air with more sports book stories and other-gambling chatter. One morning recently Bob Dancer was on talking about video poker, which was fascinating.

But should be great during March Madness too.

I listen to Bob's podcasts -- which are mostly about video poker but he will delve off into hilarious stories about Las Vegas. He's 73 or so and has that total 70s burnout voice. I love it.

One of the items on my bucket list is to still be at a book in Vegas the opening week of March Madness.

Funny to see this thread pop up today. I just signed up this week for my state's legal sports betting app (down $1.82 at the moment lol) and went to play some poker at the casino today for the first time in forever.

Played pretty well today, but only finished up $100 after taking a couple of bad beats. The worst was a hand where I had A-Q clubs under the gun. Game was $1-2 NL and, with five people already in the pot for $2 each, I raised it to $10. Chased tw0 people out, leaving the small blind, myself and the player to my left. I hit a flop of Q-10-2 with two spades. I bet $15, and both guys go with me. Turn is a Q, giving me a set. Small blind leads out with $15. I don't think he's got the Q, so I want to see where he's at and raise it to $45. Other guy folds. Small blind pushes for $110. I think it through and I'm sure I've got him. I call. He turns over 7-3 of spades. Guess what the river was ... I couldn't believe he reraised all-in on a flush draw — and a weak one at that.

The other one, I had KK on the button and raised six callers to $12. Big blind stayed with me. Flop was K-6-5 rainbow. Big blind checked, so I bet $15 and he called. Turn was a 10. He checked, I bet $50, he called. At this point, I'm thinking he's got the last K, probably an A-K, maybe K-Q. River is a Q. He checks, so I feel pretty good about my hand. I put in a $25 value bet and raises me to $75. It crosses my mind that he might have A-J, but I replay the hand in my head and I'm thinking there's no way he calls $15 and then $50 for what was a runner-runner gutshot straight draw. I'm getting 6-1 on my money, so there's no way I'm folding my set. I call and, yup, there it is .. A-J. Ugh.

You think this didn’t happen before legalized gambling?
