    Congrats to whoever got the job. Galveston is a cool place and it's a decent paper.

    It's kind of like realizing that people are NEVER going to stop talking about the low-pay scale in this business. So it's pointless for those tired of such talk telling others to be quiet.

    Inside info ... I believe know the young man who has been hired. He is a talented young writer with a lot of fresh ideas and energy. He will be a great addition.

    The pipeline here says Evan Mohl, formerly of the Killeen Daily Herald, has taken the job.

    Well they could always just advertise it as an entry level position with entry level pay and then watch the 200 or so veteran resumes roll in anyway. Might as well pre-empt the stuff they're not going to hire anyway by saying the "enthusiastic, not experienced" need not apply.

    Yes .. it would be somewhat refreshing to have a place be honest about what they're looking for. If they are looking for regional candidates only, for example. It could certainly lead to a lot less wasted time on both ends.
