Funny sports moments

Professional sports can be quite comical. This is one of the funnier moments. Are there any others out there?

I'll always be a fan of Jose Canseco's assist on the home run.

How about that one time at a ball game during a rain delay when some crazy player used the tarp as a slip n' slide? /TWIB

 

What if I told you I'm thinking of a different home run? You'd believe me, and that's because Canseco was a sad fielder late in his career.

And that's exactly the one I was thinking.

 

A few of my personal favorites...

 

He was never a great fielder but I have personally seen him send a few balls into orbit. I'll never forget the one he hit in the playoffs against the Toronto Blue Jays at then what was called Sky Dome. I have never seen a ball hit further and harder.

 

How did that animal get onto second base? Was it because of his slide? Because if it was, I'll make sure to do better at my next softball game.

Canseco was one of my favorite players growing up. I've said it on here before, but one of my favorite baseball memories was laying on my parents' waterbed when they were out of town -- sometime in 1990, I think -- and Canseco and McGwire went back-to-back. I wanted to be a Bash Brother.

I played in a whiffle ball league with another big-time Canseco fan. When one of us hit a home run -- usually me because he was a gap hitter, a table-setter for the league-leader in home runs and RBIs (yes, we kept stats) -- we bash forearms. Because we were that cool. And so was Jose.

 

I saw a game where a ground ball took a bad hop and hit the shortstop in the nuts. Oh, I still laugh about that.
