L/C may fail to use the blue font, but suspect that was the intent, here.

Because we can't. Unless you want to repeal the hate crime laws on the books.

Ah, the Daniel Tosh school of comedy. Say the most outrageous thing you can under the guise of sarcasm.

Hate crime laws are idiotic. Assault isn't more severe because of the intent behind it. It's still assault.

I wouldn't disagree with that. However, the law is the law.

I agree with QB 100% on this. Which is why I think Eric Holder should have lost his job after he made those statements. I cannot imagine an AG saying something like that.

You are correct in that the law is the law, and these attacks (just like the election day Black Panther attacks) should have been prosecuted as hate crimes. Unfortunately, in a country that defines itself all to often by race, racism doesn't just flow in one direction.

Therefore, if we are going to have hate crime laws (and IMO they should be repealed), they need to be applied in all instances of racially-charged crimes, even when committed by the historically-oppressed group.

Good lord, do we have something most posters on this board agree on?

There already are "point values". There's different degrees of murder, so to speak. First degree, second degree, and then there's different degrees of manslaughter. All involve someone getting killed.

One Philadelphia critic has had enough of this kind of thing in his city:

That critic is the mayor, Michael Nutter.
