The San Marcos Daily Record is looking for a do-it-all journalist to fill out a two-man sports staff.

When hired, the qualified candidate will primarily cover San Marcos High School, a growing Class 5A school, help out on the desk (page design/editing) and serve as the No. 2 person on Texas State athletics, including football. Social media is a core requirement of this job, as we update our Facebook and Twitter pages regularly. Experience with page design and video is needed.

The San Marcos Daily Record is part of Moser Community Media, a growing family-owned chain in Texas.

San Marcos, located in between Austin and San Antonio, was recently named the fastest-growing city in the nation with a population over 50,000 by the US Census Bureau. This city is home to Texas State University, a winding spring-fed river, ample opportunities for those who enjoy outdoor activities and a thriving nightlife scene.

This is a full-time, entry-level job with benefits and paid vacation.

We're looking to move quickly on this, so please send your cover letter, resume and five clips (gamers, features, etc) to sports editor Tyler Mayforth at tmayforth@sanmarcosrecord.com. No phone calls please.

Thank you for all of the interest thus far.

With the holidays quickly approaching as well as the New Year, we're looking to make a decision soon. We're accepting applications through the rest of the work day (Thursday). At that time, we'll narrow down finalists and be in contact with all applicants whether they made the cut or not.

Any questions can be directed to me through PM or email.

    Thanks again.

  3. Tyler's good people and does a great job down there. A good gig for a youngster to jump on.
