From the AFI thread . . . what are your top ten films of all time?

I've tried for hours to pare down my list, seeing this as a personal challenge. I can't make get it down past 17 :( I guess it gives me a little more respect for them because of how difficult it must be to do it with every movie of all time.

Top 10 favorite or the 10 we think are the 10 best of all time? There is a difference, at least somewhat.

Indeed. My list would change dramatically.

I'm apparently not putting enough thought into all the movies I watch. I have no idea what my Top 10 woud be. I will say, though, that my favorite movie is "Usual Suspects."

For certain, I can agree with more top 10s here than I can with AFI's new top 10.

(And, for the record, kudos to SockPuppet, I think, for breaking down films by category ... though I am shocked, dismayed, frustrated, etc., that you did not include "Major League" in your sports film list [Indians looser fanboy]).

    1. The Godfather
    2. The Godfather: Part II
    3. Annie Hall
    4. Pulp Fiction
    5. Hotel Rwanda
    6. Star Wars: A New Hope
    7. GoodFellas
    8. The Wizard of Oz
    9. Raging Bull
    10. The Graduate

On the outside looking in (but still often in my DVD player): Breakfast at Tiffany's ... Fight Club ... Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings ... The Constant Gardener ... Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail ... Casablanca ... Roman Holiday ... Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back ... The Good, the Bad and the Ugly ... and, yes, Major League.
