Would the answer be Ronnie Hawkins or Robbie Robertson, recording first as members of The Band, then as solo artists?

C'mon Joe, neither Ronnie nor Robbie had any solo hits. ... or in any event no solo song that's played every day on the radio.

OK, there's another hint. Both of these songs are played every day on the radio in just about every market in the country, I would guess.

I heard one today as I got in the car leaving Cleveland! If this means anything to anyone, the song was on MIX 106.5, followed by Pretenders' "Back on the Chain Gang" and Avril's "When You're Gone."

The other song airs on classic rock stations ... it's not quite fair to call it a staple ... nor should it be discounted as a rarity.

Why don't you just tell me the name of the artist [Kramer]

I figured it was a better guess than Anne Murray or Joni Mitchell solo and then with Northern Lights on "Tears are not Enough" ;D

Alright, I will now be rattling off one-word hints every 10 minutes so we can bring closure to this.

I have no doubt that someone would have eventually gotten this, but it's time to move on.

    Hint 1: singlet
