Find a nice loaf of brioche bread. You won't be more satisfied with the outcome.

Challah for the bread is a must. (if you live in the NYC-NJ area, Zomick's is preferred)
Batter is egg, milk (Farmland Dairies' Skim Plus), Vanilla, and Cinnamon.
Spray the griddle and then melt a small pat of margarine on the griddle while it heats.

My dad and his partner are firmly in the pancake camp. I'm firmly in the waffle camp. I don't like pancakes. AT. ALL.

The one thing we can all agree on is French toast.

    I outdid myself this morning.

I took my inspiration for this recipe from Orange, a mini-chain of brunch restaurants here in Chicago

    http://orangerestaurantchicago.com/orange/html/

I made a Chai Tea French Toast topped with caramelized apples and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

I used a good crusty loaf of Italian bread. For the egg batter I just made a chai tea latte (using the Oregon Chai that you can buy at the grocery store), and added that to the batter.

I cooked the apples with butter, sugar, and cinnamon. Once they were done, I removed the apples and added some apple juice, corn starch and good dark rum to the pan to make a sauce. Put the apples back in and added some lemon zest.

    Cook a little longer.

Top the french toast with apples, sauce and ice cream.

Here's how it looks on Orange's site:

It looks like they pour some of the latte in at the end as part of the sauce.

I didn't do that, but it was delicious.

Man, this thread is making me hungry.

Challah (challah bread is redundant, btw) or Cinnamon bread.

I just put some cinnamon with the egg and milk, but I may have to try a little vanilla.

We do all three at our house. Probably 75 percent pancakes, 15 percent waffles and 10 pct French Toast.

I usually serve up one of these with ... nothing. Not toasted, nothing.

The way God made them in the Bible.

Not quite the same, but my dad every Christmas morning made eggnog blueberry pancakes. You could really only eat one because they were so filling.....yummy...
