French Toast

French Toast is one of my favorite breakfast foods & it's pretty damn easy to make.

A restaurant I went to put some Grand Marnier and vanilla extract in their batter/custard. It was really good and I've made it that way at home.

That got me to thinking what else would be good. Last week I put in some Bailey's and that worked.

Today, I poured half of my cappuccino and a little Jameson in to make a kind of Irish Coffee French Toast. Delicious, but I might throw in a little Kalua next time too.

Anyone else have a favorite French Toast recipe?

I thought maybe France lost in the World Cup.

Vanilla, a splash of OJ, and some cinnamon.

Splash of OJ sounds good. I was wondering how it'd be if you melted some jam and mixed it into the batter. Maybe I'll have to give that a try soon.

Cinnamon makes everything better, and Grand Marnier is horrifying. I've never been a french toast fan at restaurants because too much egg ruins it.

A place near me makes the most decadent french toast.

    Here's their chocolate french toast:

I make mine with egg, milk, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.

Had some a week ago with maple syrup and powdered sugar. So yummy.

Don't put ketchup on it like my wife's family does. That should be grounds fopr the return of the death penalty here in Canuckistan where every other tree is loaded with maple syrup.

I'm not anti-ketchup like some here are, but that sounds gross.

Ketchup on french toast? WTF? That is indeed a culinary crime of the capital kind.

Start with cinnamon bread if I can get it ... eggs, cinnamon, vanilla, milk maybe nutmeg.

Dusted with powdered sugar and swimming in an ocean of maple syrup

Perkins makes a great cinnamon roll french toast
