We at the Waxahachie Daily Light always welcome talented writers and offer opportunities to young journalists not only get bylines and be seen, but to also get paid for it. We need a journalist to cover Friday's Midlothian/Desoto game at 7:30 p.m. at Desoto High School. We will give you media access to both the field and the press box, where there is catering.

Please include clips or a link to your online articles for our review. Writers must be able to work on deadline, write clean and concise and have above average interviewing skills. Photography skills are a plus.

We also need talented writers to cover volleyball, basketball and baseball games in the near future and we may be looking for a permanent beat writer in the future. Contact the Daily Light Sports Editor Khris S. Marion for more information on compensation at (469) 517-1454 or at kmatthews-marion@waxahachietx.com.

Waxahachie? Is that near the river that Alan Jackson sings about?

Deadline for applicants is probably around Oct. 21, so by all means hurry.
