Thing is, Bill, I want to HEAR what you're saying. Speak up! He could learn a lot from watching Bob Ryan from his days on the Sports Reporters, once Bob got his speaking legs. I didn't like Bob at first but he got pretty comfortable -- perhaps when he shaved his 'stache -- learned to enunciate a little better and spoke with conviction.

I stopped watching NBA Countdown mostly because Bill killed the flow of almost every conversation.

Totally agree. I don't like Simmons, but I respect his basketball knowledge, so I want to hear what he has to say. He just isn't very good at saying it.

When Olbermann expressed interest in returning to ESPN, someone at the network said he could return, I believe it was, when everyone there had a chance to punch him in the stomach?

Naaa, Simmons isn't QUITE there yet...

Because of my age and location, I didn't really read him until about a decade ago, when he had already begun finding celebrity through Pardon the Interruption. But I regularly read him (along with all the Post's columnists) for his final five-plus years in the newspaper industry. He was the worst the Post had in its Boswell-Wise-Jenkins-Wilbon columnist roster. Everything he wrote was either a knee-jerk reaction with heavy moralizing or a pat on the back to one of his athlete friends, which could also describe his work as an analyst.

You know, I'd agree he was the worst by the end, but that's a damn formidable lineup.

Wilbon was very, very good on NFL/NBA for years.
