Fox Sports cuts web writing staff

The video only thing is dumb for a number of reasons - a reason not discussed yet is how it impacts data usage on phones.

 

More providers are offering unlimited again, and they only throttle you down after ~20 gigs.

To be fair, 88% of zero is still zero.

 

They have low overhead.

 

Likely still would be significant but would be better to have comparisons vs. same period in prior year.

 

I sure as hell don't miss the clickbait. course the traffic was going to go down. Big time. None of that traffic made Fox any money. If it had, it wouldn't have gone away.

 

Bingo, although I think a website featuring someone of Rosenthal's caliber is a better loss-leader and brand-builder than the current pile of trash.

 

Never went to that site even though I used to write for them. Where is Travis with an explo about how shifting to video was a death kick? Oh right, he doesn't work there anymore

 

Just goes to show this "pivot" was motivated primarily by advertisers' aggressive hang-up with pre-roll, not editorial's conclusion that "more people want to watch videos" or whatever bullshit they came up with.

 

And likely disappointed there are no boobs.

 

Pivot to video is nothing but an executive shell game, done so that someone(s) in management can keep their job for another few years as they survive on the potential of monetizing video until everyone realizes that's a farce.
