I don't know if the antipathy toward Obama is religious or racial. I think those are just McGuffins, really. The root of the antipathy is his politics, and the personal antipathy is just added in to complete the coherent narrative. It's just Demonize the Opposition 101. Not that different from how meatball sports fans find reasons to hate J.J. Redick or Ryan Braun.

  2. You mean you've never heard or read anti-black or anti-Muslim comments regarding Obama? And I'm leaving out the usual right wing criticisms directed at any Democrat as being a socialist or Communist or liberal.

They 'hate' him for what he's done? I thought the hallmark of his administration to this point was to have done nothing.

Oh for %$ck's sake, of course I have. That I have heard/read such doesn't mean I'm prepared to say that this President is: 1) hated by his opposition more than almost any other President; and 2) such hatred would be substantially diminished if he were just another white guy.

The fascist corporatist media conspiracy continues. Almost everybody in our industry works for entities under its control. You probably don't know it, but you do.

In case anybody doesn't know it, Rupert Murdoch runs the AP as well as Fox News. He was actually on the board for a while, then decided it was better to pull the strings behind the scenes through puppets.

For example, the woman selling the "Don't Re-Nig in 2012" bumper sticker says it's not racist at all.

I keep trying to make sense of this in my head and I just can't.

I mean, don't we all agree that race is a factor for a certain percentage of people -- and just disagree on what the percentage is?

And, if so, shouldn't the number of people who think race is a factor for some people be 100 percent? So, yes, it outnumbers the number of racists voting on race. He got elected after all.

Or the Los Alamitos city council member a few years ago who sent around an email with Obama and watermelons for easter. She said the thought didn't even occur to her that there was a racial intent.

Listen, I think this board in general cries "RACYESS!1!" way too often. But to think alot of the hatred toward Obama isn't raced-based is absurd.

I hate FOX News. They are the MAIN reason Republicans get a bad rep. Look, I'm a Republican. Meaning, I believe in the core values of the Rep. party - Liberty, Equality, Opportunity - and this station does nothing to promote any of these.

I'm sorry, but voter apathy only goes so far. And the more they run down his name, the higher his stock goes with those who are poor and uneducated.

Well, race was brought into the equation when Barack Obama's father was black.

There are a certain percentage of people who won't vote for him because of his skin color. That's simply a fact.

The percentage is nearly impossible to define, I'll grant, because this is one issue where polling has proven not to be very good.
