Former Miami Hurricane Adam Bates on the sham of amatuerism

    With a 10 & 12 yr old, its really starts at 8 or so. I was driving with my 10 yr old and his two friends last friday and I heard them discussing the different groups at school, the "jocks/popular ones" and the "others." They already see the dictomy.

    It is more of a win-win. Ivy League athletes aren't as valuable athletically as big time recruits. They are mostly kids who aren't being recruited by major DI schools. The Ivy League does lower academic standards for athletes, but the academic standards are still pretty high.
