Former Ann Arbor News building sold

The former Ann Arbor News building was sold to the University of Michigan Credit Union. The CU is not owned by the university.

The News left its old presses (inactive for several years) in the building. Wonder if the CU will try to print its own money?

I thought having the presses in the building would deter a sale, but three clients were very interested. I'm guessing that the property, and the auto repair shop across the street, could be brownfields.

It's hard to believe it's almost a year since The News closed - July 23.

I wonder if they'll take out the carpet on the second floor, the squares, which made it mandatory to read the carpet while competing in putting contests on the overnight shift.

I wonder if they ever replaced the "speed putt" hole in the wall?

Didn't they re-do that newsroom not terribly long before the end? I think I remember from my visit there hearing it was fairly new.

Yes, the building was renovated a couple years before it closed. Nothing like dropping several million, then closing the joint.

I dropped a deuce there once. They should put up a plaque.
