I really enjoyed Lawrence of Arabia, Trainspotting and The King's Speech.

Oh, yeah. And this other one about a male nurse who rapes some chick in a coma. It also featured bullfighters. It was weird.

I haven't really seen many lately, but I've really liked most of Almodovar's films.

Abre Los Ojos is amazing. The American version of it became Vanilla Sky, but the Spanish version is a couple hundred thousand times better.

Jamon Jamon is another one. Atame! is fantastic. Sex y Lucia may be one of the hottest films I've ever seen. Most of the movies that Antonio Banderas and Penelope Cruz made before they came to the US are, for the most part, very good...

Water Drops on Falling Rocks is another one.

Azrael's list is a fine one.

But I'll submit this: If you're interested in filmmaking - which is what I'd contend Scorsese is after - then a big, jumbled list is an OK goal. If you're interested in how a nation emerges in cinema, or learning more about a given place, then picking a nation/region and exploring the work that way is more effective.

Yeah, I saw that one, too. Not sure I'd call it amazing, but I was able to watch the entire thing without falling to sleep, so there's that.
