I'm in the Santa Cruz area and am surprised how many fans, marshals, etc., are staying in the area and driving down to Pebble. Imagine room rates are cheaper, but not only is it Father's Day weekend, but graduation ceremonies for UC Santa Cruz.

Morning groups almost done. Fowler and Schauffle tied at 5 under. Rory 3 under. DJ even. Mickelson 1 over. Scores are pretty low overall. Not much wind.

If that wind gets up and dries the old girl out, you could see some great big numbers.

No comments here in almost four hours. You guys at happy hour or something?
Koepka looks pretty confident out there. But the USGA will punish these guys for the scores today.

Woods has made about 80 feet of par savers today. Great for drama, but a tough way to make a living.

Schauffele making me look good after one round. And Rickie has to win at some point, right?

Koepka continues to be the Terminator. As great as he is, just tough to get excited about him. But a third straight U.S. Open would do it.

Total grinder for Woods. But if he can get in at 1- or 2-under without playing too well, that might end up being huge.

Can't believe I'm admitting this but Fox's coverage is remarkedly better from where they were in 2015.

It's definitely a lot better. Though, there was only one way to go. That first year was horrendous.

Justin Rose with 14 one-putts. 22 putts overall. Hoo boy.
