This is awesome. NASA is having a garage sale and selling off the retiring space shuttles to whoever ponies up the cash. For the low, low price of only $28 million you can own one of these honeys.
And for a limited time only, if you buy a space shuttle they'll throw an extra engine in free!
Not enough for you? How's this, hotshot? If you call now, we'll knock $14 million off the price!
These babies are going fast, so don't delay! Be the envy of your block when you launch into space from your backyard!

I'd love for some multibillionaire to just buy one of these and put it in his yard as a warning to the neighbors. Or for Jerry Jones to buy it and put it outside JerryWorld, launch pad and all.

Right. There are now 10,178 members of SportsJournalists.com. Accounting for sock puppets, let's call it an even 10,000.

That's $2,880 each, folks. I think we can do it. Who's in?

I'm in. I wonder if tax and title are extra, though?

Do we have somewhere at SJ headquarters in Tahoe to store it?

And do we have to pay for shipping?

They'll fly it to the nearest major airport as part of the purchase price. Getting it from there to SJ headquarters is on us, though.
    Anybody got a truck?

Our bureau in Roswell would be a good place for it.

The shuttles, of course, should be sent to museum facilities Cape Canaveral and Houston, but of course in today's Wal-Mart/eBay wingnut world, they'll be sold off for chicken change.

It would be irresponsible to buy one before taking it out for a test drive.

Tahoe is only 15 minutes from where I live. I hope we have space.

If they take out the hyperdrive, I'm not buying it.
