For real this time -- SJ.com Soft Drink Wars: BARQ'S IS THE CHAMPION

No disrespect to the original starter(s) of the first soft drink wars, but I think we need to start over from scratch and resurrect this thing the right way.

The SJ Soft Drink Wars are back -- and this time, they'll end.

I'm the self-appointed tournament director (see why below). I'll need some nominations to get the bracket going. I'm thinking we'll have two 32-"team" regions -- a brown soda region and a red/green/clear/etc. soda region. While I love my carbonated beverages, I'll need a little help to fill out 64 spots in the bracket.

As soon as we can get some good nominations, I'll put the bracket up. Vote publicly via bolding your winner or privately by PM, I don't care.

I figure one week for voting and discussion for each round should be plenty. Plus, one week is a nice, easy way for me to remember to total things up and keep the bracket moving.

How will I make sure I stay on task? Well, this is going to be personal.... After earning a spot on the SportsJournalists.com college football poll with, like, less than 200 posts, I've decided it's time to step up and earn my SJ stripes.

What better way to earn stripes than with a war?

    Let's do this.

Let me just say as a vet of starting tournament type thingies on SJ, just come up with a bracket and give people something to vote on, otherwise it isn't worth it or you will get to much arguing because folks on this site love to argue, just to argue.

Jeez, try to keep up. It's soft drinks, not recreational drugs.

Okee dokee. My plan is to make the bracket myself. Just want to make sure the selection committee doesn't leave out any deserving mid-majors.

Nononononono, you are the selection committee.

That's the beauty of running an SportsJournalists.com tournament.

Remember, if people bitch about your selections, whatever you do, don't change the original bracket. It must stay the same.

If you're looking for different cokes to fill out the bracket, how about Double Cola and (ugh) Ski?
