JUCO Football game played this past weekend.

    BUTLER 28 13 34 14 ---89
    HIGHLAND 0 0 0 0 ---0

And Butler took 4 knees at the Highland 25 to run out the clock.

(Honorable Mention; Much to the dismay of sprited; 8-man division)

    Greeley Co. 0 14 30 0 -- 44

    Moscow 24 20 40 6 -- 90

Game called 2 minutes into the 4th quarter because of the 46 point mercy rule.

Officiating an 8-man game this Friday Night....freaking stoked about it.

Only fitting that Highland, much like its two most famous residents, could not score

Not nearly as bad, point-wise, but I'll throw in a game I covered last weekend. Louisville Western, ranked third in state after beating a couple of perennial powers, traveled to (coincidentally) Fort Thomas, Ky. Highlands (ranked No. 1 in their class).

Looked to be a good game. Wasn't — 49-0 at the half, reserves and a running clock for the second half for a 56-0 final. Game finished in about and hour and a half.

Lesson of the week: Don't f*ck with any teams named Highland(s).

That Highlands team is pretty damn good, ain't it?

Damned good. Very fast, hard-hitting and the most disciplined team I watched this weekend (including University of Cincinnati and the Browns). Fumbled a punt, one pass interference and a horse-collar. Only mistakes on the night.

Covered a game last Friday: Podunk 8, East Next Town Over 7. Podunk scored on a QB sneak and 2-point conversion with a second left for the win on the road.

There was a score from the Mississippi high school ranks that stood out:
    Gulfport 13, South Panola 4.

Not only a weird score, but it was also South Panola's first non-playoff loss against a Mississippi team in almost a decade. Their only losses against in-state competition (and this is a 6A powerhouse, not a podunk 1A school) in that span were in a couple of state championship games.

I think Butler returned three interceptions for touchdowns in the third quarter alone.

Not surprised that South Panola is struggling, after laying down against the worst Hoover team in years.

Their quarterback had a release with more kinks than a garden hose. It's no wonder they got beat.

Eventually, SP's dynasty has to fall. Nothing lasts forever.
