Our fall sports tab (FB, VB, XC, soccer) will run Sept. 10 IIRC. It's Week 2 of football for most schools, but league doesn't start until well into October for all our 11-man teams and most soccer/volleyball teams will have played exactly one game, so it's whatever. Three-person staff (SE, me and desk person), one FT shooter for the entire newsroom (I'll try, but quality will be low) and maybe the use of a clerk.

We ran 32 fall, 32 winter, 28 spring last year. The fall tab was 48 when I got here in '06...*that* was a bitch. Now it kicks our collective ass for a bit, but we get it done and breathe a sigh of relief when it's over.

Football tabs are some of the easiest sells, if you have a good selling staff.

If you have a staff that will sit on their asses, come in at 930am, take a two-hour lunch, and leave at 4pm, then yes, it is difficult to sell ads.

He can't, and doesn't try to. Just walks by with a smug rich-boy look. If he has a problem with anyone, he doesn't speak to them; he e-mails their supervisor and makes them.
