Flickr and RSS

    It seems to me there aren't many tech heads around these parts, but I did something tonight I found sort of neat and thought I'd share it in my low-tech lingo.

    I went to my RSS reader, created a new feed and popped this into the URL bar:

    http://flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?tags=PutItHere&format=rss_200

    Then I replaced the "PutItHere" with the name of my hometown and clicked subscribe.

    What's it do? Well, every time someone uploads a public photo to Flickr and uses the name of my hometown in the description, it will also go to my reader. You can put anything in the PutItHere, the name of your favorite flower, anything.

    Perhaps this is old hat to some folks, but it certainly wasn't something I knew I could do.
