It's not the catalytic converter unless there's a flatulent smell that won't go away.
(Have fun with the quote function on this one ... )

Ha. Got $600 for mine, too. My mom had a friend who was in auto repair school and needed a broken down car to work on and experiment with. Couldn't believe they were willing to pay that much for it.

A junk car's worth a few hundred just for whatever parts -- wheels, etc. -- and scrap steel that can be salvaged from it.

    Smallp,

You can drive it with a bad catalytic converter. If the car is still limping and belching along when you have to pass state inspection, move to another state.

As for the "check engine light," put a piece of duct tape over it.

Have you considered wearing a disguise when you bring your car to the shop?

I'd suggest a neck tattoo and blue coveralls with a name patch that says "Biff."

Given that you were totally down with all that bullshit about 17-inch monitors on the other thread, I have no time for your whining.

    Oh, and Uncle.Ruckus ...

Listen, this fucking thread is like The Godfather: Part III. We just skipped right over the second installment. Do you understand how goddamn depressing that is?

I'm trying to picture the small rodent gnawing at smallpotatoes' plug.
